Book Nook Sawara Town DIY kit - BN008
Book Nook – Sawara Fishing Village
The Sawara Old Town Book Nook is inspired by the charming little town of Sawara in Narita, Japan. During our visit, we were deeply moved by its peaceful beauty and the way its traditions have been so carefully preserved — the very essence that gives Sawara its unique soul.

Product story
Sawara Town was designed over three months, inspired by the crystal-clear canals where fish glide beneath the surface and by the Japanese way of life that lives in quiet harmony with nature. We focused on capturing the feeling of water flowing gently through daily life—homes built alongside streams, light reflecting on the surface, and moments that feel unhurried. Rather than dramatic motion, the design emphasizes calm details, allowing the scene to breathe and tell a peaceful story of coexistence between people and nature.

Sawara Town by Book Nook
Inspired by Sawara — the beautifully preserved “Little Edo” riverside town in Japan — this Book Nook brings to life the charm of historic canals and traditional architecture from the Edo period (1603–1868), where merchant houses lined serene waterways and life moved gently along the riverbanks.
At the heart of the scene is a glowing river filled with luminous koi fish, echoing the clear canals that have defined Sawara for centuries. The model’s highly detailed buildings capture the character of old wooden merchant homes, while interactive elements — including sliding main doors and movable windows — invite you to explore and engage with the scene as if you were strolling through the actual town.

A Beautiful Piece to Show Off
Whether it’s your first Book Nook or one of many, it looks great on a desk, bookshelf, or TV cabinet. Fair warning though — once you start, you’ll probably want a dedicated shelf just for them. They really are that good.
Bought this for my mom. She’s now officially more addicted than me.
Real talk: get a craft knife. Makes removing tiny parts WAY cleaner.
That alone is rare these days 😅 Had a missing tiny part and got help super fast.
I bought this thinking it would be a fun weekend thing and omg... it turned into a full emotional journey 😂 Every tiny corner has so much detail. Took me around 7 hours with coffee breaks. Worth every minute.
A beautiful autumn-themed book nook set in old Japan. What's not to like? Assembly was not difficult, and the finished product is something I'm proud to display. Good design.
Delivery of package arrived my ginza onsen, well beyond their policy timeframes with no communication. When received the items were simply wrapped in duct tape and shipping label. It arrived with rips and holes. Luckily nothing was majorly damaged. The instructuons could use a lot more clarity esp at the points of when gluing sections that need to move with other parts. Additionally the elect components are faulty. Where the lights will randomly turn on. Ive tripled checked thr wiring no issues as well as button mechanism. So it seems to be a circuitry issue. I really want to love these sets i got. But based on these experiences its a 1 star for me
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and we're truly sorry for the experience you had.
We checked your order and found that, unfortunately, your package encountered customs issues and had to be shipped back and forth several times before it could finally be delivered. This likely caused the damage to the outer packaging during transit, and we sincerely apologize for that.
Regarding the faulty electronic components, we'd be more than happy to send you replacement parts completely free of charge. Our goal is to make sure you can enjoy the model as it was intended.
Please send us a few photos or a short video showing the damaged or malfunctioning parts, and we'll arrange the replacement shipment as quickly as possible.
Thank you again for your patience and for giving us the opportunity to make this right. We truly appreciate your support.
