Product story
The deep ocean, untamed jungles, and the vastness of space have always been endless sources of inspiration for human imagination—and this model was born from that same sense of wonder. The Abandoned Submarine took four months to design, with the most time devoted to its iconic hatch door. We wanted it to feel real, mechanical, and alive. After six to seven different prototypes, the final design features a carefully engineered mechanism that produces a subtle clicking sound as the door opens and closes, echoing the feel of a heavy metal hatch deep beneath the sea.

The Abandoned Submarine Book Nook
Step inside the silent hull of The Abandoned Submarine, where time has slowed and the deep sea tells its own story. From within the rusted interior of a long-forgotten vessel, you look out through a circular window into the dark blue depths of the ocean. Floating just beyond the glass, a lone diver — a treasure hunter — has finally reached the end of a long journey, holding the discovery that has drawn them to the ocean floor.
The scene is viewed entirely from inside the submarine, placing you at the heart of the story. Pipes, gears, control panels, and worn metal textures surround you, illuminated by a warm, atmospheric glow that contrasts with the cold, endless sea outside.
The defining feature of this model is its mechanical door. Inspired by the design of a vault or safe, the door opens with a subtle, tactile click–clack sound, created by an internal gear system. Each movement feels deliberate, like unlocking a secret sealed away for decades.
More than a book nook, The Abandoned Submarine is a moment of discovery — a miniature world where adventure, mystery, and craftsmanship meet beneath the surface.

It was a fantastic experience, relaxing and loved every minute of it. Actually sad that I finished it already. I loved the layers that had to be assembled in order to create a 3D look. I was impressed with the way the light switch was incorporated in a mechanical handle along with the mechanism that locks and unlocks the heavy door. The Abandoned Submarine has gotten a nice place on a bookshelf and has everyone in awe of the details. Looking forward to similar detailed book nooks that aren’t streets or houses!
Everyone assumes it cost way more than it did.
I m just starting it, but it is amazing. Respect for the designers so beautiful, full widths details. I love it. I am 80 and a woman and I make this as a present for my son. He will love it.
This kit is amazing! So detailed and so many clever things. I love the door latch (CLICK CLICK) and the hidden light switch.
